Jack Pierson: The Miami Years is the first exhibition devoted to exploring the city’s transformative impact on Pierson’s life and work. The artist’s initial excursion from New York City to Miami Beach in the winter of 1984 instigated many return visits over the years. To mark Pierson’s Art Week Miami Beach debut, James Voorhies, Curator-at-Large at The Bass, introduces a conversation, between Klaus Bisenbach, German American Curator and former Chief Curator at Large at The Museum of Modern Art in New York and MoMA PS1 Massachusetts-born artist Jack Pierson.

Experience Untitled Art, Miami Beach through the eyes of artist Petra Cortright, a leading voice in digital painting and new media—and a featured artist in The Bass collection. Cortright returns to the fair this year as a guest curator, and will guide members through her curated section, followed by a celebratory toast in The Resy VIP Lounge.

Go inside Art Basel Miami Beach with a Women’s Circle-only walkthrough led by Adriana Vergara, Donor Relations Officer at The Bass. After exploring a curated selection of booths, we’ll wrap up with an exclusive visit with artist Kennedy Yanko at her presentation, where she’ll speak about her process, materials, and newest body of work.

Internationally acclaimed artist Sir Isaac Julien returns for a highly anticipated conversation moderated by Silvia Karman Cubiñá, Executive Director of The Bass. Together, they reflect on Julien’s groundbreaking video installation Vagabondia (2000), a recent gift from collectors Rosa and Carlos de la Cruz and now on view at the museum. The work was among the first to posit the museum as a space where suppressed stories and experiences can – and should – surface in their totality. Twenty-five years after its debut, we revisit the work and context in which it’s presented today.

Future Bass is heading to Pinta Miami for an exclusive, curator-led tour hosted by Felipe Costa Peuser, Head of Business Development at Pinta. Join us for an inside look at the artists, galleries, and curatorial vision shaping one of the leading platforms for modern and contemporary Latin American and Spanish-speaking art. This special walkthrough offers direct access to the perspectives behind the fair and insight into what positions Pinta as a key force in the global art landscape.

The Bass is teaming up with the NFL Players Association (NFLPA)’s Professional Athletes Foundation again for a special Art Week event—Painting with the Pros! During this event, kids and their families will paint with the former NFL players and work on an amazing group project led by local artist, David Sexton. Painting with the Pros is recommended for ages 7–15.  

This event is FREE. Pre-registration is required. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
